What is GPS?

            GPS (Global Positioning System) is a technology used to manufacture an electronic device named GPS Receiver.             This Technology and its devices are used only by the U.S. Military services before the incident of Korean Air Lines KAL007 was shot down by Soviet interceptors on 1 September 1983. The plane was shot down with its 269 passengers, including Lawrence McDonald, a sitting member of the United States Congress were killed.             It was allegedly said that the Korean Airliner was over the sea area which strayed into the prohibited Soviet airspace around the time of a planned missile test.

Before this incident, GPS was only used by the military services of U.S.A, the President Ronald Reagan ordered the Military to make use of altered GPS to all the civilians across the globe so that navigational errors like that of KAL 007 could be averted in the future.
